Character Transfer

Are your friends playing Aion® on a different server than the one that your character plays on? Transfer your character to that server! The character transfer account service lets you move a character from one server to another so that you can play in the game community that fits you and your play style. Once you have transferred a character to a different server, it will be tracked in the Shadow Court Archives.

Character Name Change

Name Change

Unhappy with the character name you originally picked? Change it! The character name change account service lets you change the name of a single character. After you buy a character name change, you apply the account service to a particular character, then log in to the game on that character and receive a Name Change Ticket in the in-game express mail.

Use the Name Change Ticket by simply double-clicking it, entering a new character name, previewing the change, and confirming it. Once the character name has been changed, it will be tracked in the Shadow Court Archives.

Legion Name Change

Do your Legion members think that their Legion needs a more distinctive name? Change it! The Legion name change account service lets you change the name of your Legion. After you buy a Legion name change, you apply the account service to a particular Legion leader character, then log in to the game on that character and receive a Legion Name Change Ticket in the in-game express mail.

Use the Legion Name Change Ticket by simply double-clicking it, entering a new Legion name, previewing the change, and confirming it. Once the Legion name has been changed, it will be tracked in the Shadow Court Archives.

Have you realized that you picked the wrong gender and look for your character now that you've played for awhile? Change it! The gender change account service lets you change a character from female to male or vice versa and at the same time customize that character's appearance. You reaccess the character creation customization screen to change your character's appearance in any way you could when making a new character, including changing hair style, hair color, body style, voice, face shape, decoration, tattoo, eye color, lip color, and skin color.

After you buy a gender change, you apply the account service to a particular character, then log in to the game on that character and receive a Gender Switch Ticket in the in-game express mail.

Character Customization

Tired of your old character look? Change it! The character customization account service lets you customize a character's appearance. You reaccess the character creation customization screen to change your character's appearance in any way you could when making a new character (except changing gender), including changing hair style, hair color, body style, voice, face shape, decoration, tattoo, eye color, lip color, and skin color.

After you buy a character customization, you apply the account service to a particular character, then log in to the game on that character and receive a Plastic Surgery Ticket in the in-game express mail.

General

Q: Where can I purchase Aion account services?

A: You can purchase them at the NCsoft store.

  1. Go to the NCsoft store.
  2. Select the Aion service that you'd like to purchase.
  3. Click Buy Now.
  4. Select your preferred payment method.
  5. Follow the remaining on-screen instructions.
  6. Once you've successfully purchased the service, go to your Aion Game Account Details page and use Apply In-Game Items on your selected character.

Q: Once I've purchased an Aion account service, how do I use it?

A: To use an account service you have purchased, you must apply it to a particular character. Follow these instructions:

  1. Log in to your NCsoft Master Account.
  2. Select your Aion game account.
  3. Click Apply In-Game Items in the Actions section.
  4. Select the Aion server of the character you intend to receive the items (the purchased account service ticket), and click Next.
  5. Select the character that that you intend to use the items (the ticket), and click Next.
  6. Select the item (the ticket) you want to apply to that character, and click Next.
  7. Review the confirmation page, and click Apply the Items/Item Packs to This Character.
  8. Log in to Aion with the selected character, and receive your in-game items (your account service ticket) via in-game express mail.

If you have purchased the character transfer service, you must apply that service to a particular character. If you did not begin the transfer at the time of purchase, please follow these instructions:

  1. Log in to your NCsoft Master Account
  2. Select your Aion game account.
  3. Click Transfer Server in the Actions section.
  4. Click Begin Server Transfer to apply the Character Transfer code to the selected account.
  5. Select the Origin Server in which you currently have a character, and click Next.
  6. Select the Character that you intend to transfer, and click Next.
  7. Select the Destination Server to which your character will move, and click Next.
  8. Review the Character Transfer confirmation page, and click Move This Character.

Q: Can I trade, sell, or store an Aion account services digital ticket in game?

A: No, the tickets cannot be traded, sold, or stored in one's account or Legion warehouse, so be sure that you apply them to the correct character.

Q: Can I buy an account service and use it later?

A: Yes, each account service gives one digital ticket for the selected character. It can be stored in your character's inventory and used at your leisure.

Q: Will the in-game items expire?

A: No, these items will remain in your character's inventory until they have been used or destroyed.

Q: Can I buy an account service and use it later?

A: Purchase of a character name change, a Legion name change, a gender change, or a character customization account services gives one character one digital ticket to the selected character. The ticket can be stored in your character's inventory and used at your leisure. The character transfer account service is requested when you pay for that account service and does not involve an in-game digital ticket. You are not obligated to use it at time of purchase, however, and can save it for later, if so desired*.

*Please note that special offers, such as free server transfers, may have additional restrictions that prevent long-term delay of use.

Q: Can I cancel the use of my in-game ticket before I apply the changes?

A: Yes, at any point before you confirm the changes to your character's name, Legion name, gender, or the selected character customization, you can cancel the process and keep your ticket.

Q: Can I cancel my character transfer after I pay for the account service but before the character is transferred, get a refund, and have my character remain on the character original server?

A: No, at present we do not allow for the cancellation of server transfer requests.

Character Transfer

Q: How long does it take to transfer a character?

A: Characters are queued up each week to be transferred and are processed during the weekly Aion server maintenance.

Q: How do I know that my character has transferred?

A: You may view your transfer request status at anytime by logging into account management, selecting your Aion account, and clicking on View Status in the Actions section. When you login to Aion after server maintenance your character will no longer exist on its original server and will be located on the newly desired server. If your character transfer fails, you will be notified of the reason via e-mail and in View Status. To ensure a successful transfer please review the restrictions, check that your character is eligible, and take action where necessary to prepare your character for the transition to a new server.

Q: What happens during a character transfer?

A: When you go to the store to purchase a character transfer, the system will make certain that you have an eligible account before allowing you to proceed. Once you have selected a valid account, the transfer service will be applied and you will be prompted to begin a server transfer. Follow the prompts as directed. The eligibility of the selected character will be checked once you have selected the destination server. Once you confirm the transfer you wish to make, your selection will be queued for processing during the next maintenance window. During that maintenance your request's eligibility will be checked a second time. If it still passes, your character will be transferred to the selected server.

Q: I transferred my character and now my character is named something different. How do I change the name?

A: If you transfer a character and the name of your character is not available on the destination server, we rename your transferred character. If we renamed your transferred character because of a naming conflict, we put a Name Change Ticket in the transferred character's inventory to allow you to rename the transferred character for free. This Name Change Ticket is valid for a year. You use this Name Change Ticket the same way as described in the Character Name Change account service section of this FAQ.

Q: My character transfer failed. What do I do now?

A: Review the eligibility and requirements of your character. Most often if a transfer fails it is because your character has too many Abyss Points, too much Kinah, has items from the restricted item list, has items out on consignment at the Trade Broker, or has restricted items in the in-game mail. Take action to make sure that whatever caused the failure is addressed (use Kinah, sell items, use Abyss Points, get the mail, and so on). Then return to account management for the account in questions and select Transfer Server in the Actions section to begin a new attempt.

Q: How will my friends know that I've transferred my character to another server?

A: Each character transfer is tracked and displayed in the Shadow Court Archives. In this way, everyone is able to see the transfer in game and out of game.

Q: Are there any restrictions on how often I can transfer a particular character?

A: After you transfer a character, you cannot transfer the same character again until after 30 days have elapsed. However, you can purchase as many character transfers for different characters at the same time as you wish.

Note: During the free character move period (July 15 through August 25), players can transfer characters once a week.

Q: I changed my mind. I want to transfer my character back to my character's original server. How do I do that?

A: After you transfer a character, you cannot transfer the same character again until after 30 days elapse. Transferring a character back is a paid character transfer. It costs the same as the original character transfer and has the same eligibility and restrictions as the original character transfer.

Note: During the free character move period (July 15 through August 25), players can transfer characters once a week.

Gender Change

Q: Can I customize my character's appearance when I change my character's gender?

A: Yes. When you purchase a gender change, it both changes you character's gender and allows you to customize that character's appearance in all the same ways that you could when you made a new character.

Q: Where do I go to redeem my Gender Switch Ticket?

A: If your character is an Elyos, go to the city of Sanctum and visit Euripides, the Daeva of Life Transformation, in a tavern in the Outer Dock. If your character is an Asmodian, go to Pandaemonium and visit Jotunmodr, Daeva of Life Transformation, in the back alleys of the Pandaemonium Plaza.

Character Customization

Q: Where do I go to redeem my Plastic Surgery Ticket?

A: If your character is an Elyos, go to the city of Sanctum and visit Maenia, Daeva of Appearance, in the Angelic Frippery. If your character is an Asmodian, go to Pandaemonium and visit, Himingleva, Daeva of Appearance, in the Angelic Frippery.

You can also visit these NPCs and preview the new possible character looks without a Plastic Surgery Ticket.

Character Name Change

Q: How do I use my Name Change Ticket?

A: Log in to the game on the selected character and open the in-game express mail that contains your Name Change Ticket. Add the item to your character's inventory and double-click it. Once you've double-clicked the ticket, you'll be prompted to enter a new character name. If that character name is available and meets the game's name requirements and restrictions, it will be changed immediately and permanently.

Q: How will my friends know that I've changed my character name?

A: Each character name change is tracked and displayed in the Shadow Court Archives and updated on your friends' lists. In this way, everyone is able to see the change in game and out of game.

Q: I mistyped my character name. Can I revert the change?

A: You will be able to view a preview of your new character name before you apply the change. Once the change is submitted and applied, it is permanent. You can purchase and use another Name Change Ticket to change it again.

Q: Are there any restrictions on how often I can purchase a character name change?

A: You can purchase up to three Name Change Tickets per month.

Legion Name Change

Q: Can any character change a Legion's name?

A: No, only Legion leaders can use a Legion Name Change Ticket to change the name of a Legion, and they can only change a Legion that they lead.
